I. Assignment
- Find a good map of Washington, D. C. on the web and orient yourself
to the principal components of Jefferson's, Washington's, and L'Enfant's
ideas on the design of the city and the placement of the principal public
buildings. Enfant's
map and print showing Greenleaf point are available in the bookstore.
From the maps and those in Arnebeck, determine as best you can where Daniel
Carroll of Duddington's new mansion was, where Greenleaf point is, where
Harbaugh's bridge was, and the other more important landmarks of the first
two decades of the history of the city.
