Week 3 (September 12)Baltimore to 1824; lecture notes
Week 4 (September 19)Population and Spacial Growth, 1790-1990 with a discussion of reading on the history of Baltimore to the edge of Civil War (1860)
Week 5 (September 26)Baltimore and the the rights of labor (to 1877 )
Week 6 (October 3) GUEST LECTURER (Mame Warren, co-author of Bringing Back The Bay); DUE: book review of Stephen T. Whtman, The Price of Freedom (note: this link will take you to Amazon.com where you can find on-line material relating to Whitman's book. Also check the jstore site for the scholarly journals which any reference librarian at Eisenhower Library can help you access.) Reviews should be approximately 3 double spaced typed pages and follow a scholarly format found in such journals as the Journal of the Early Republic, the American Historical Review, and the Journal of American History.
