March 2003

1)  Week of March 3-7
--This week I continued stripping the 1848 ads from the Daily National Intelligencer, finishing March through August 1848.

2)  Week of March 10-14
--On Monday and Tuesday I continued stripping runaway ads from the Daily National Intelligencer, finishing September 1848 through January 1849.
--On Monday and Tuesday I entered an additional 100 names into the database for the BALTIMORE CITY AND COUNTY JAIL (Runaway Docket),  1836-1850, 2/72/4/20, bringing the total to 510 entries.

3)  Week of March 17-21
--Monday through Wednesday were spent on other projects with no time to devote to grant work.
--Thursday I attended the "case studies" meeting.

4)  Week of March 24-28
Note:  This is my last week of work before going on maternity leave.
--I continued stripping runaway ads from the Daily National Intelligencer, finishing February through July 1849.  This includes scanning and saving images and entering information into the database.  Someone will need to finish August through December 1849.

February 2003
1)  Week of Feb. 3-7
--On Wednesday I recorded on paper another 220 names and info. from the 1850 FR Co. population census.
--On Thursday I recorded on paper another 385 names and info. from the 1850 FR Co. population census.
--On Friday I entered the additional 500+ names and info. from the 1850 FR Co. population census into the database (total to date entered:  2,094)

2)  Week of Feb. 10-14
--On Monday I copied another two months' worth of runaway ads from the Daily National Intelligencer, June and July, 1837.
--On Tuesday I entered the runaway ads into the database
--On Wednesday I recorded on paper an additional 300 names and info. from the 1850 FR Co. population census.
--On Thursday I scanned and saved the runaway ads from the Daily National Intelligencer for June and July, 1837.  I also continued recording on paper additional names from the 850 FR Co. population census.
--On Friday a scanned, cropped and saved the runaway ads from Monday.

3)  Week of Feb. 17-21
--Monday:  Snow day/holiday
--On Tuesday through Friday I worked on entering more names onto the data sheet and into the database for the 1850 FR Co. population census.  To date, 151 pages have been filled out on my data sheet out of an estimated 163; and 2,862 names have been entered into the database out of an estimated 3,700.  Once the names and information have been entered into the database, it will show that I am in the home stretch for this census!

4)  Week of Feb. 24-28
--On Monday and Tuesday I finished stripping runaway ads from the Daily National Intelligencer for August through December, 1837.  I scanned and saved the images as well as entered the information into the newspaper database.
--On Wednesday and Thursday I finished stripping the 1850 FR Co. population census and recording the names and information on paper.  On Thursday I stripped runaway ads for January and February 1848 in the Daily National Intelligencer.
--Friday I finished entering the last 250 names into the datbase for the 1850 FR Co. population.  This census is now finished!!!  I also scanned and saved the ads for January and February 1848 from the Daily National Intelligencer.

January 2003
1)  Week of Jan. 13-17
--Baltimore Sun articles for 1837 are scanned, saved, and entered into the database, marking completion of that newspaper.
--Daily National Intelligencer articles are scanned, saved and entered into the database from January 1, 1836 through August 31, 1836.
--The first 100 entries in the BALTIMORE CITY AND COUNTY JAIL (Runaway Docket) 1836-1850, C2064-2, 2/72/4/20 are entered into the database and the docket has been passed on to Emily for completion on her days working at home.
--The first 850 (out of an estimated 3,700) names/info. from the FR Co. population census for1850 are stripped and entered into the database.

2)  Week of Jan. 20-24
--On Monday and Tuesday I copied eight more months' worth of runaway ads from the Daily National Intelligencer, September, 1836 through April 1837.
--On Wednesday I scanned, cropped, named, and saved the new articles and entered them into the database.

3)  Week of Jan. 27-31
--On Tuesday I copied two more months' worth of runaway ads from the Daily National Intelligencer, May and June 1837.
--On Wednesday I scanned, cropped, named, and saved the new articles and entered them into the database.  I also stripped another 250 names/info. from the FR Co. population census for1850 onto the paper log.
--On Thursday I entered the 250 names from yesterday into the database.
