The Commission met in the Executive
Offices
in Baltimore at 10:30 a.m..
There were present
The Governor, the Treasurar,
Hon James McSherry,
Hon S.C. Schmucker, Mesrs
F.C. Latrobe, Spencer C.
Jones, P.J. Campbell, J.P.T.
Mathias, Elijah Williams
and T.J.C. Williams.
The Architect, Mr. Josias
Pennington, submitted
a tabulation of the bids
received for constructing
the building.
Judge Schmucker moved that
it is the sense of
the Commission that the
appropriation should
not be exceeded in the contract
price for the
building.
Gen Latrobe seconded the
motion.
The motion was put and rejected.
Gen Latrobe moved that the
contract for erect-
ing thr Annex to the State
House, be awarded to
Henry Smith and Sons, they
being the lowest biidders,
at their bid of $431,672
subject to such modifica-
tions as the executive committee
may make and
that work on the building
begin at once.
This motion being seconded
was adopted.
The Commission adjourned.
