Wife: 1. by 1656, Mary, daughter of Ralph Darnall, 2. by 1666, Jane, daughter of Vincent Lowe, widow of Henry Sewell, 3. by 1701, Mary (Thorpe), 4. by 1712, Margaret, daughter of Thomas Charleton, later wife of 2. Lawrence Eliot. Parents: Cecil Calvert, 2nd Lord Baltimore, and Anne Arundel (both remained in England). Kin who came to St. Marys: Leonard Calvert (uncle), George Calvert (uncle). Children (wife#2): Cecil (1667-1681), Clare (1670-1694, m. Edward Maria Stonestreet), Anne (1673-1731, m. 1. Edward Maria Stonestreet, 2. William Parton), Benedict Leonard (1679-1715, 4th Lord Baltimore), Charles (1680-1733). Sewell step-children: Nicholas, Eliza, Mary, Anne, Jane. Provincial Offices: receiver general, 1660; governor, 1661-1675; secretary, 1665-1666, 1667-1669, 1673-1674; collector of Patuxent, 1673-1676; proprietor of Maryland, 1675-1715 (without governing rights, 1689-1715). Returned to England in 1684.
