Medicines, Tonics, and Remedies
 

 Maintaining  one's health has always been of importance in the African American community, although professional health care was often inaccessible. Any medicine that was believed to cure illness or disease was  advertised in the Afro-American.  Through the Afro-American one could find the people  who would administer medicinal herbs and  roots.  The following clips are examples of such advertisements.
