Robert G. McPherson (1787-1824)

Biography:

Born 1787.  Son of Sarah Smith and John McPherson (1760-1829). Five siblings: Horatio; James; William S.; Edward; Harriet. Died, August 19, 1824, at his home Belle Air in Frederick Country, Maryland.

Owned farm in Frederick County. Served in Maryland Militia, Ninth Artillery Brigade, Captain Henry Steiner's company. Commissioned Second Lieutenant, July 12, 1814; First Lieutenant, September 10, 1814. Probably fought at the Battle of North Point. Resigned commission, February 14, 1821. Elected to House of Delegates, 1820; unsuccessful candidate in 1818, 1819, 1821. Federalist. At death, estate valued at over $6800, and included 16 slaves. Member, All Saints' Protestant Episcopal Church.
