Born in Annapolis, Maryland in 1973.  Attended University of Maryland, College Park, B.A. (economics); University of Baltimore.  Married; two children.

Mayor of Annapolis, December 7, 2009 to December 2, 2013. Member, County Council, Anne Arundel County, representing Councilmanic District 6, December 2006-December 2009. Member, Annapolis City Council, representing Ward 8, 2001-06; Annapolis Recreation and Parks Advisory Board; Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Joint Transit Advisory Committee. Program Director, Maryland Crime Victims' Resource Center. Former parole and probation officer. Board of Directors, Eastport Civic Association. Past chair, GreenScape; OIC Job Readiness Center; Annapolis Democratic Central Committee.
