Biography:

Born, Hebbville, Baltimore County, December 25, 1869. Parents Norman L. and Lizette Rice Stanton. One of five children. Family moved to Baltimore City when he was young. Attended Baltimore public schools, later University of Maryland Law School. Admitted to the bar, June 1, 1891. Married Mary Wallace Huber, 1922; no children. Died in Baltimore, July 3, 1956.

Engaged in private practice until 1916. Justice, on Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, January 10, 1916 to September 20, 1938. President, Maryland State Bar Association, May 18 to June 25, 1938. Appointed Police Commissioner, Baltimore City, 1938, resigned June 1, 1943. Active in a number of civic and fraternal organizations, including several devoted to the care of children, such as the Orphan Asylum and the Hospital for Crippled Children.
