Biography:

Maurice Ogle was born April 7, 1887, in Prince George's County, Maryland. Son of  Benjamin and Ida (Layman) Ogle. Attended Sadlers Bryant & Stratton Business College, Baltimore, MD; Baltimore Law School. Married (1) Amy M. Werntz, 1910; (2) Ann Guest. Two sons: Robert Werntz Ogle; Maurice Chapman Ogle. Died November 1, 1964, in Annapolis, Maryland. Buried, Christ Episcopal Chuch, Owensville, Maryland.

Maurice Ogle first came to Annapolis in the early 1900s, as a stenographer under Caleb C. Magruder, having previously worked as clerk at the Prince George's County Circuit Court in Upper Marlboro.  He later became a deputy clerk, and in November 1942 was appointed Clerk of the Court of Appeals, a position he held until his retirement in 1957. Ogle also had interests in tobacco farming and real estate development.
