MARYLAND STATE ARCHIVES SPECIAL COLLECTIONS (Maryland Republican and State Capital Advertiser Collection) 28 June 1879, MSA SC 2945. Maryland Republican reports that John F. Wiggins was working in the dome when Charles W. Hawkins, carpenter, fell sixty feet inside the dome fatally injuring his spinal column, which caused his death.
