Biography:

Born John Gilbert Prendergast, August 7, 1909 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  Attended local public schools.  Graduated, magna cum laude, University of Notre Dame; University of Maryland Law School, 1933.  Admitted to the Bar, November 4, 1933.  Married, Helen Marie McHugh; four children, Neal J. Prendergast, Peter F. Prendergast, John G. Prendergast, Jr., and Mrs. C. David Mayer.  Died July 13, 1973 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Assistant City Solicitor, 1941-1943.  Lieutenant, U.S. Navy, World War II.  Practiced in partnership with a number of different lawyers.  Appointed to the Supreme Bench, June, 1959.  Member, American Bar Association and Bar Association of Baltimore City.  Former vice president, Maryland State Bar Association.  Board, Merchants club, Mount Washington Club.  President, Alumni Associations of University of Maryland and its law school.
