Biography:

Born October 24, 1897, in Baltimore, Maryland. Attended Baltimore City pubic schools; Baltimore City College; Johns Hopkins University, 1917; Harvard Law School, 1921. Jewish. Married Selma C. Levy, 1922. Two children: Martin Oppenheimer; Joan (Oppenheimer) Gottesman. Died July 1982.

Member, Frank, Oppenheimer, Bernstein and Gutberlet law firm, 1921-1955. Associate Judge, Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, 1955-1964. Judge, Maryland Court of Appeals, 1964-1967. Retired 1967.

Chairman, Committee on the Reorganization of the People's Court of Baltimore City, 1938. Member and Co-Chairman, Appeals and Review Committees, National War Labor Board, 1943-1945. Chief Attorney, Maryland State Office of Price Administration, 1942-1943. Chairman, Committee on Additional Tax Revenue for the City of Baltimore, 1945. Chairman, Board of the Maryland Department of Correction, 1947-1951. Delegate, U.S. Delegation fo the Twelth International Penal and Penitentiary Congress at the Hague, 1950. Member, Committee on the Administrative Organization of the State of Maryland, 1951-1953; Committee on Judical Administration, 1953-1955; Bar Assocation of Baltimore City, president, 1952-1953; Maryland State Bar Association, president 1955-1956; American Bar Association.  Fellow, American Bar Founation.Instructor, University of Maryland Law School, 1947-1955. Member, Executive Board of the American Jewish Committee. President, Baltimore Jewish Council, 1940-1941. President, Jewish Welfare Fund of Baltimore, 1942. Member, Har Sinai Congregation.  Member, Phi Beta Kappa; Omicron Delta Kappa.
