Born in Baltimore, Maryland, May 30, 1948.  Calvert Hall High School; Towson State University, B.S., 1970; The Johns Hopkins University, M.S., 1979.  Married to the former Joyce Petr; two children.

General Assembly:
House of Delegates, Harford County, 1983-90.  Vice-chair, Economic Matters Committee.  Member, Unemployment Insurance Subcommittee; Health Insurance Subcommittee; Savings and Loan Subcommittee.  Chair, Workforce Training Subcommittee.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
Member of family-owned lumber and hardware business, 1966-74.  Served in Maryland National Guard, 1970-73; U.S. Army Reserve, captain, 1973-79.  Teacher, Baltimore City public schools, 1970-79.  Account manager, Digital Equipment Corp.  Member, Maryland Legislative Information System (MLIS) Steering Committee; State Development Council Task Force; Forest Hill Recreation Council; 35th District Democratic Clubs; co-coordinator, Cedarwood Neighborhood Watch Program.
