Biography:

Born in Cumberland, Maryland, November 7, 1916.  Attended Cumberland parochial schools.  Married Helen Stakem, c. 1938.  Children:  Katherine (m. Tresselt), Thomas B., James, Michael P., Alice.  Died September 15, 2002 in Cumberland.

General Assembly:
House of Delegates, Allegany County, 1975-82.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
Postal worker and assistant postmaster of Cumberland, 1937-72.  Served in the U.S. Army Reserve, 1949-69; attained the rank of major.  Member and chair, Cumberland Citizens Advisory Committee, 1968-70.  Member, Cumberland Civil Service Commission, 1973-74; Democratic State Central Committee of Allegany County, 1985-86.  Vice chair, Allegany County Chapter, American Red Cross.  Member, National Association of Retired Federal Employees; Maryland Commission on Intergovernmental Cooperation; Rural Development Committee, State-Federal Assembly, NCSL.  Chair, Maryland Legislative Study Group.  Member, Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Cumberland; Catholic War Veterans; Knights of Columbus.
