Henry O. Devries

1867 Constitutional Convention, Howard County

Henry O. Devries was born in 1826 in Sykesville, Maryland.1  He was an attorney and served as Judge of the Orphans
Court in Howard County.  He was also interested in the advancement of agriculture and was at one time master of the State
Grange.2

He married Ann E. Shipley on March 14, 1850.3  They had seven children; Newton, who died in infancy, Martha, Anne,
Benjamin, Mary Jane, Cora, and Alpheus.4

Henry Devries died in 1902.  He is buried in Mount View Cemetery in Sykesville, Maryland.1
