William N. Hayden (1817-1885)

Born September 23, 1817, in Westminster, Maryland.  Son of Basil and Apparilla (Buckingham) Hayden.  Attended schools  in Carroll and Frederick counties; Reisterstown Academy.  Studied law with James Raymond.  Married Eugenia Elizabeth Scott, daughter of Upton Scott; three children.  Died September 14, 1885, in Westminster, Maryland.

Member of the 1867 Constitutional Convention from Carroll County. Associate judge, Fifth Judicial Circuit, 1867-82. Served as the State's Attorney in Carroll County, c. 1846-48.  Previously practiced law with his brother-in-law, John J. Baumgartner.
