Born in Washington, DC, September 11, 1950. Daughter of Bess B. Lavine. University of Maryland, College Park, B.A., cum laude, 1972; Duke University Law School, J.D., 1973 (editorial board, Duke Law Journal). Admitted to Maryland Bar, 1973; Pennsylvania Bar, 1975 (inactive since 1980); U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, 1978 (trial bar, 1981); U.S. Court of Appeals for 4th Circuit, 1985.

Associate Judge, Prince George's County Circuit Court, 7th Judicial Circuit, November 14, 1995 to September 30, 2013 (coordinating judge, family division, 2001-04; jury judge, 2004-07). Retired September 30, 2013. Chair, Civil Law and Procedure Committee, Maryland Judicial Conference, 1992-94. Member, Mental Health, Alcoholism and Addiction Committee, 1999-2002, Family Law Committee, 2003-07, and Civil Law and Procedure Committee, 2007-10, Maryland Judicial Conference.
