Biography:

Born Howard Peters Rawlings, in Baltimore, Maryland, March 17, 1937.  Attended Baltimore public schools; Morgan State University, B.S., mathematics; University of Wisconsin, M.S., mathematics; University of Maryland, Ph.D. studies. Married; three children, including Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. Died November 14, 2003, in Baltimore, Maryland. Buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Woodlawn, Maryland.
