James Barroll Ricaud (1808-1866)

Biography:

Born February 11, 1808, in Baltimore, Maryland.  Son of Benjamin and Rebecca (Miller) Hyatt Ricaud.  Attended public schools; Washington College, Chestertown, Marylad, 1828; studied law.  Admitted to the bar, 1829.  Episcopalian.  Married 1.) Anne Elizabeth Gordon, November 29, 1831, and 2.) Cornelia C. Worrell, December 9, 1845.  One daughter, Mary Rebecca.  Died January 24, 1866, in Chestertown, Maryland.  Buried at St. Paul's Church in Chestertown, Maryland.

Practiced law in Chestertown, Maryland. House of Delegates, Kent County, 1834. Maryland State Senate, Eastern Shore, 1836-37; Kent County, 1834-43 and 1864. Presidential elector, Kent County, 1838 and 1844. Delegate, 1850 Constitutional Convention, Kent County. U.S. House of Representatives, 2nd District, 1855-59. Associate judge, 7th Judicial Distrct, 1864-66.
