Biography:

Born July 27, 1932, in Baltimore, Maryland.  Daughter of Harry C. and Ruth (Barton) Butcher.  Attended Sidwell Friends School, Washington, D.C.; National Cathedral School, Washington, D.C., 1950; Hood College, 1963-64.  Married (1) Goodloe Edgar Byron; three children. (2) B. Kirk Walsh.

U.S. House of Representatives, representing Maryland's 6th District, 1979-1993. Democrat.

Member, Board of Visitors, U.S. Air Force Academy, 1980-87; Board of Directors, American Hiking Association; Board of Associates, Hood College; Board of Directors, Hood College; Board of Trustees, Mt. St. Mary's College; Board of Trustees, Frostburg State University's International Studies Program; Base Closure and Realignment Commission, 1993. Treasurer, Maryland Young Democrats, 1962 and 1965. Trustee, Baltimore Council on Foreign Affairs. Chairman, State Commission on Physical Fitness.
