Children:  Frisby Tilghman and Nina Lamar by Margaret Ann Tilghman
Education:  B.A. 1826 from Washington College, Pennsylvania; admitted to the bar in April, 1831
Religion:  Presbyterian, elected first president of the board of trustees for the Presbyterian Church of Cumberland, Maryland; converted to Catholicism late in life
Military:  Colonel of the Fiftieth Regiment and later appointed brigadier-general of the Maryland militia
Occupations:  1826-1834 principal of the Allegany County Academy; Lawyer 1831-1872
Political Affiliation:  Whig; switched to Democrat in the early 1850's
Maryland Politics:

                    Maryland Legislature, 1854
                    Maryland Senate, 1859
                    Maryland Constitutional Convention, 1867
