Born Edward Hamilton Burke, Januay 14, 1886, in Baltimore County, Maryland. Son of Judge N. Charles Burke and Colie Ady Burke. Attended Loyola High School; Loyola College, B.A. 1906; University of Maryland Law School, 1908. Admitted to the Maryland Bar, August 5, 1908. Married Elizabeth Carter, 1913. Died July 10, 1955. Buried, Cathedral Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland.

Attorney in private practice; Assitant United State's Attorney. Private, United States Marine Corps, World War I. Member, Maryland House of Delegates, Baltimore County (D), 1920. Chairman, Standing Committee on Judiciary. Member, Standing Committee on Printing; Standing Committee on Education; Standing Committee on Agriculture. Chairman, New Democratic Organization, 1933. Member, Commission to Revise the Land and Inheritance Laws of Maryland, 1939. Chairman, Committee to review the judicial system of Maryland, 1952-1953. Chairman, Baltimore County Charter Board, 1954-1955. Chairman, Selective Service Board No. 34. President, Maryland State Bar Assocation, 1953-1954; Baltimore County Bar Assocation; Hibernian Society of Baltimore, 1936-1940. Honorary Doctor of Laws, Loyola College, 1947. Past Exalted Ruler, Order of Elks.
