William Spencer

Biography:

Born in Kent County, Maryland. Eldest son of Isaac Spencer (1734/5-1875). Five siblings: Charlotte, Isaac, Jarvis, and James. Not married. Died March 8, 1822, in Kent County, Maryland.

Served in Maryland Militia, 33rd Infantry Regiment, Kent County. Commissioned captain, 1794; major, 1801; leutenant colonel, 1809; colonel, 1817. U. S. Army, Light Dragoons, captain,  January, 1799 to June 1800. House of Delegates, Kent County, 1794-1796 and 1815. State Senate, Eastern Shore, 1816-1820; Senate President. Federalist.
