MSA SC 3520-285

Biography:

Little is known about James Coxe, including his birth and death dates.  Coxe immigrated as a free adult to Maryland in 1649, probably from Virginia.  He resided in Anne Arundel County and served in the Lower House representing Providence in 1650 and 1651.  He served as burgess and  speaker of the Lower House in 1650.  All references to Coxe disappear from the public records thereafter.
