(302) March Court Anno Domini 1748 In such Cases made and Provided lodged with the Clerk of the Court here the following acc.t and Warrant for attachment Vizt 1747 Thomas Anglesby D.r To Charles Craig To one years Wages 700 1748 To one ditto 700 Charles County ss.t Then Charles Craig Came before me one of his Lordships Justices and made oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God that the above account is Just and true as it stands stated Sworn before Gust Brown February 13.th 1748/9 Charles County ss.t Whereas Charles Craig Complains that a Certain Thomas Anglesby Brick Layer is Justly Indebted to him the sum of Fourteen Hundred pound of Tobacco pounds of Tobacco and that the afs.d Thomas Anglesby is Runaway with a Design to defraud him and his other Creditors These are to Require you on Sight hereof to Issue an attachment Consonent to Directions of the Act of Assembly of this Province and this shall be your Warrant Given under my hand and Seale this 13.th day of February 1748/9 Gust Brown To M.r Edmund Porteus Clk of Charles County Whereupon It was Commanded the sheriff that of the Goods Chattles and Credits of the afs.d Thomas Anglesby in his Bailywick being he should attach as well the sum of Fourteen Hundred Pounds of Tobacco Damages as Seven Hundred Pounds of Tobacco for Costs that had accrued and that further should accrue in Prosecution of the Premises and when the same he had attached or any Part thereof that he should have it before the Justices of the Lord Proprietary of his Next County Court to be held at Charles Town on the Second Tuesday in March Next then & there to be Condemned according to Law to and for the use of the said Charles unless the said Thomas should Come then and there by himself or Lawfull Attorney and Answer unto the said Charles of a plea of Trespass upon the Case and that by Good and Lawfull men of his Bailywick he should make known to the Person or Persons in whose hands he should make the same att.a that he she or they be and appear before the Justices of the said Lord Proprietary at the Place & time afs.d to shew Cause if any he she or they have why the sum in their or any of their hands attached should not be Condemned According to Law and the said Charles have thereof Execution if &C.a And how he should Execute that Writ that he should make known to the Justices afs.d at the time and Place afs.d and that he should have then and there that WRit and the Names of those before whom he should make the same known &C.a And now here at this day to wit the Second Tuesday in March afs.d Comes the said Charles by Jeremiah Chase his attorney and offers himself against the said Tho.s in the plea afs.d and the sheriff afs.d Returns to the Court here the Writ afs.d thus Indorsed Viz.t Charles County ss.t I hereby Certify to the Worshipfull the Justices within mentioned that by Virtue of the within Writ to me directed that on the seventeenth day of February 1748/9 I attached in the hands of Jacob Brandy for the whole Damages and Costs within mentioned and also in the 18.th day of the same Month I attached in the hands of Barton Hungerford Senior for the whole Damages and Costs within mentioned and also on the 7.th day of March I attached in the hands of Stephen (Chandler) |
