(234) November Court Anno Domini 1747 Therefore it is Considered by the Court here ^that^ the said Walter Recover against the said James his Damages aforesaid to Eight Hundred and Seventy Three pounds of Tobacco above Acknowled as also the sum of Two Hundred & Sixty p.ds of Tobacco for his Costs and Charges by him about his suit in that part laid out and Expended on his assent by the Court here adjudged and the said James in Def.t in Mea Mercy &Ca
Be it Remembered that Bowling Speak pursuant to the Directions of the Act of Assembly in those Cases late made and provided lodged with the Clerk of the Court here the following Note & Warrant for attachment Vizt This my note shall oblige me Mark Knowles me my heirs or assigns to pay unto Bowling Speak him his Heirs or assigns or his order the full and Just Sum of Six Hundred pounds of good Merchantable Tobacco & one years Levy for Value Received this Twelfth day of August 1747 as Witness my hand Testis mark John Bowling Speak Mark X Knowles his Charles County ss.t Whereas Bowling Speak has this day made oath before me September the 10.th 1747 Came Bowling Speak and made Oath on the holy Evangelists of Almighty God that he hath not Received any part or parcel of the within note nor any satisfaction nor security for the sam Sworn Before Allen Davies Charles County ss.t Whereas Bowling speak has this day made Oath before me the subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the Peace for the County afs.d that Mark Knowles is justly Indebted unto him in the sum of six Hundred pounds of Tobacco and one Levy and that the said Knowles is Ran away & These are therefore in his Lordships Name to Require you to Issue attachm.t against the Effects of the said March Knowles accordingly to the Directions of the Act of Assembly in such Cases made and Provided and hereof fail not Given under my hand and Seal this 10th day of September 1747 To Mr Edmund Porteus Clk Allen Davies Charles County Whereupon It was Commanded the Sheriff that ^of^ the Goods Chattles & Credits of the aforesaid Mark Knowles in his Bailywick being he should attach as we (the) |
