Subscriber one of his Lordships the Lord proprietarys Justices of the peace for the County of Somerset and took his Oath on
the holy Evangelist of almighty God that he would Execute the within Commission and the powers ^to him^ Hereby given faithfully
Justly and Impartially to the best of his Knowledge sworn to the day and Year above before me

May 2.d 1730  Came Major Robert King and Mr Thomas Gillis before me the Subscriber One of his Lordships
Justices of the peace for Somerset County and took their Oaths on the holy Evangelist of almighty God that they
would Execute the within Commission and the powers to them thereby Given faithfully and Justly to the Best of
their knowledge            Sworn ye day and Year above before            John Jones

                            John Gray sen.r of Somerset County aged seventy five Years or thereabout deposeth on the holy
Evangelist of Allmighty God saith that when Thomas Smith was about to have the Land Called Hartlebury bought
of Capt Henry Smith (laid out) ^he^ this deponant was present with them and they then run part of the above tract
Beginning at the first bounder thereof to which a markt pine that this deponant now stands by near to
which is a small red Oak saplin markt with Sixteen Notches being by a Corn feild fence now in the possession
of Robert Smith and by the side of a ridge and from thence they the said Thomas Smith and Henry Smith
Runn near to a branch Commonly Called Smiths branch and further Saith not                     John Gray

       The above deposition taken before us the Subscribers this 3d day of July 1730

Commission and Affidavitts
Somerset ss     Charles absolute Lord and Proprietary of the provinces of Maryland
and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &.c  To John Scott Wm Lane, W.m Handy and Robert Mitchell
all of Somerset County Gentlemen Greeting Know ye that we have appointed you or any three or two
    of you to be Our Commissioners to Examine Evidences in behalfe of a Certain Angello Atkinson of the County aforesaid in relation to the
    bounds of a tract of Land Lying in the County aforesaid Called Coopers purchase  We therefore require you or any three or two of you
    at some time and place as to you or any three or two of you Shall Seem Convenient you mete on the aforesaid Land Called Coopers
    purchase (you first having taken your Oath on the holy Evangelist of Almighty God according to act of assembly in Such Case made
    and provided) and there Cause to Come before you or any three or two of you all Such Evidences as Shall be to you or any three or two
    of you nominated by the said Complainant (or defend.t if any) and that you Examine them upon their Corporall Oaths to be by
    you or any three or two of you administred on the holy Evangelist of Almighty God in the presence of the Said Complainant
    (or defend.t if any) touching the truth or remembrances of their knowledge or any thing that may relate to the Cause aforesaid
    and that reduceing the Several depositions into writing you send the Same together with this Our Commission under
    your or any three or two of your hands to us to Our County Court of Somerset with all Convenient Speed Wittness W.m
    Planner Gent One of Our Justices of Our said Court the twenty fourth day of November in the fifteenth Year of
    Our Dominion anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and twenty Nine

             To this Commission it was annexed as followeth viz.t

Somerset County ss
                                        By Vertue of a Commission from the worshipfull Justices of Somerset County to us directed
to Examine Wittnesses Concerning the bounds of a Certain tract of Land Called Coopers purchase belonging to
Angello Atkinson of the County afd and having performed what the Law in that part Required upon Our Meeting upon
the said Land on the 23d day of January 1729 proceeded and took the following Depositions

    William Lane aged thirty five Years or thereabouts being Sworn upon the holy Evangelist of almighty God
deposeth and Sayth that the tree which he allways understood to be the deviding Bounder between the afd
