Subscribe My Name and affix the Seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline County the fourth day of May Anno Domini 1858 Robert J Jump Clk (Seal) State of Maryland Caroline County to Wit Whereas William H Baynard hath made application to Me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to Law: And whereas on the affirmation of Samuel Dunning has been proven that the said William H Baynard was free born I do therefore grant this Certificate he is Now about twenty one years of age five feet ^and^ six inches high or thereabout of a Molatto Complection was born raised in Caroline County and ^has^ no mark or Scar that I have observed (Seal) In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe my name and affix the Seal of the Circuit Court Court for Caroline County this twentyth first day of May Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and fifty eight Robert J Jump Clk State of Maryland Caroline County to wit: Whereas Jane Wyatt hath made application to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeable to law: and whereas on the oath of Ethoninda Starkey has been proven that Said Jane Wyatt was free born. I do therefore grant this Certificate She is now about twenty years of age five feet and one inch high or thereabout of a black Complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has a scar on the left rist Caused by the Cut of a Knife And has no other mark or Scar that I have observed (Seal) In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe My name and affix the Seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline County this twenty first day of May Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and fifty eight Robt J Jump Clk |
