Caroline County Circuit Court, Certificates of Freedom, 1857-1864

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas James Edward Calloway
hath made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to law:  and
whereas on the oath of William Barcus hath been proven that said James
Edward Calloway was free born and raised in Caroline County and is
now about twenty two years of age five feet four inches high or thereabout of
Chesnutt Complexion and has no notable mark or scar that I have observed
(seal)   In Testimony Whereof I hereunto Subscribe my name and affix the Seal
      of the Circuit Court for Caroline County this 14th day of March Anno
Domini 1860

Andrew Jackson ^Satterfield^ hath made application to me for a certificate of his freedom
agreeably to law and Whereas on the oath of William M. A. Liden has
been proven that said William Andrew Jackson Satterfield was free
born about twenty three years of age five feet eight and one half inches
high or thereabout of a Black Complexion and was raised in Caroline
County and has no notable mark or scars that I have observed
(seal)   In Testimony Whereof I hereunto Subscribe my name and
        affix the Seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline County this
    14th day of March Anno Domini 1860
