   pounds of Tobacco and Cost of Sute and by William Graves there foreman all So Say
   The Plt. by his attry afd Prays Judgment on the verdict afd But the Deft by —
   Michael Howard his attry afd moves in Stay of Judgment which is granted and
   that Reason be fild which folls viz The Deft Saith that the Court on the verdict
   found by ye Jury against ye Deft~ is repugnant & Contrary in it Selfe and therefore
   ought not proceed to give Judgment on ye Same M:Howard for ye Deft~
   which reasons afd being read and argued And mature deliberation being
   thereon taken by the Court do adjudge the Same not good Nor Sufficient
   to destroy the verdict of the Jury afd =   Therefore it is Considered by the
   Court here vizt. this Twenty first day of March Anno Domini One—
   Thousand Seven hundred and Seventeen That the afd Plt~ Thomas —
   Hughes do Recover against the Said Deft Laughlin Flinn as well
   the afd Sume of Three Thousand Eight hundred Sixty Eight pounds of~
   Tobacco Damages by the Jury afd found and also the Sume of one Thousand
   and fifty Six pounds of Tobacco Cost by the afd Plt~ about his Sute in this
   behalfe Expended and by the Court here of his assent adjudged and the
   Said Deft~ in mercy &ca ———
           And as to the Second assumption in the Plts above Declaration mencõned
   Saith that the afd Plt~. his Accõn afd against him to have or maintaine ought not~
   because he Saith that true it is he the Said Deft did Stand justly & truly indebted
   unto the Said Plt~. in the Said Sum of Three Thousand eight hundred & Eighty
   eight pounds of Tobacco as in the Plts. above Declaration is alleadged but for
   plea Saith that Since the Said Deft became indebted to the Said Plt as afd —
   the Said Deft. hath an Accot. arisen justly due to him amounting to the Sume
   of Nineteen pounds four Shillings & three pence half penny Currant money
   that is to Say The Twentieth day of March in the Year of our Lord one—
   Thousand Seven hundred & Seventeen at St. Pauls Parish in the County .
   afd & within the Jurisdiciõn of this Court which he prays may be discounted
   & allowed him according to an Act of Assembly of this Province and this
   he is ready to verifie wherefore he prays Judgment whether the Said Plt
   his Accõn afd against him to have or maintain ought &ca Johnson pr Deft~
