93 Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of us James Hunter Saml Maynard On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Ninian Pinkney (seal) Witness James Hunter Anne Arundel County to wit: Be it remembered That on this twenty first day of November Eighteen hundred and Eighteen personally appears Ninian Pinkney party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided paid Acknowledged before James Hunter Ex.d d.d 3 Recorded the 21.st day of November 1818 Be it remembered that whereas I John Adams a free man of Colour of anne arundel County and State of maryland did some time in the year of Eighteen hundred and sixteen purchase of mary Gassaway of montgomery County one negroe woman named Rachel aged at this time thirty one years and a negroe Girl named Elvina anne aged at this time three years and whereas the said Rachel has since I purchased her had a (son) |
