617 of: Henry W Gray Eliza Gray At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland City of Baltimore sc On this twentieth day of January Eighteen hundred and forty two before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland in and for the City of Baltimore personally appeared Elias Ellicott and acknowledged the aforegoing Instrument of writing to be his act and deed and I hereby Certify of my own knowledge that Elias Ellicott who acknowledged the same is the same whose name is subscribed thereto Exd Acknowledged before Henry H Gray paid 4 Recorded the 4 day of march 1842 Know all men by these presents that I Dorsey Jacobs of anne arundel county in the State of maryland for divers good causes and Considerations me thereunto moving have from and upon the first day of January in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty two and not before released from slavery manumitted liberated and set free and by these presents do from and upon the said day and not before release from Slavery manumit liberate and set free my Negro man named Robert or Bob being at present of about the age of twenty three years and him the said Robert or Bob I hereby declare to be from the said first day of January Eighteen hundred an fifty two and forever thenceforth find manumitted liberated and discharged from all manner of service and servitude to me my Executors administrators and assigns In Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and Seal this 29 day of January Eighteen hundred and forty two (Signed) |
