575 Carter late of Queen Anns County and her the said Charity I do hereby declare to be henceforth manumitted and set free in as full and ample a manner as if she had never been a slave In witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirteenth day of January Eighteen hundred and thirty six Signed sealed and delivered her in the presence of Rose X Thomas (seal) Edward Dubois Rosetta Dubois mark At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Annapolis City anne arundel county state of maryland be it remembered that on the thirteenth day of January in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty Six personally appeared Rose Thomas free woman of colour before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for anne arundel county and acknowledges the within deed of manumission to be her act and deed and the mulatto woman therein named Charity to be henceforth manumitted freed & discharged from all kind of slavery in as full and ample a manner as if she had never been a slave according to the purport true intent and meaning of said deed of manumission and the act of assembly in such case made & provided paid Acknowledged before Edward Dubois Ex.d.d.d 2¼ Recorded the 15th day of January 1836 To all whom it may concern be it known that I John Ridgely of the City of annapolis in the state of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of six dollars current money to me in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from |
