430 of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty nine Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of us Amelia Pinkney (seal) Gideon White John S Selby At the foot of the aforegoing is thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of one dollar current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness Gideon White Amelia Pinkney Anne Arundel County to wit: Be it remembered that on this thirteenth day of July personally appears Amelia Pinkney party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro woman within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all service to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the last act of assembly in such cases made and provided paid Acknowledged before Gideon White 3 Recorded the 17th day of July 1829 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Polly Shipley of anne arundel county in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving do release from slavery liberate manumit and set set free after having faithfully served my niece Eleanor Brown five years from the date hereof my negro woman (Susan) |
