415 Know all men by these presents that we Rezin D Hewitt and Eli Hewitt of anne arundel County divers good causes and considerations us thereunto moving as also in the further consideration of the sum of one Dollar to us in hand paid do manumit and set free from slavery and by these presents have manumitted and set free from slavery to us our negro man named John Millord aged about thirty years to be free after the expiration of the term of three years and him the said John Millord after the expiration of the said term we do forever manumit and set free Given under our hands and seals this twenty sixth day of November Eighteen hundred and twenty Eight Witnessed by Rezin D Hewitt (seal) John S Tyson Wm H Marriott Eli Hewitt (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written To wit: City of Baltimore to wit On this 26 day of November 1828 personally appeared Rezin D Hewitt and Eli Hewitt before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the City of Baltimore aforesaid and acknowledged the above Instrument of writing to be their act and deed Acknowledged before Saml Pickering State of Maryland Baltimore County Sct I hereby Certify that Samuel Pickering Gentleman before whom the within acknowledgements were made and who hath thereto subscribed his name was at the time of so doing a Justice of the peace in and for the City of Baltimore duly commissioned and sworn Chd In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand 2¾ (Seal) and affixed the seal of Baltimore County Court this twenty sixth day of November Eighteen hundred & twenty Eight Wm Gibson Clk Recorded the 28th day of November 1828 |
