346 all claims of servitude all the negroes in the said manumission named at the times therein described according to the true intent and meaning thereof which said manumission remains duly recorded in Liber B No 2 fol 285 & one of the manumission record books of Anne Arundel County In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand & seal this 24th day of July Anno Domini 1826 Sealed & delivered in presence of us Richard P Snowden Joseph R Hopkins (seal) Gerrard H Snowden On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County ss Be it remembered that on this 24th day of July in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred & twenty six before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the said county came Joseph R Hopkins and acknowledged the within manumission to be his act and deed and desired the same might be recorded as such Ex.d d.d Gerrard H Snowden Ch.d 3¼ Recorded the 23.d day of August 1826 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Joseph R Hopkins of the City of Philadelphia have manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby manumit and set free my negro woman Sarah Harrison aged forty two years and her daughter Bet aged about twenty years they being residents of Anne Arundel County acquired to me by my intermarriage with Anne Maria Snowden I do hereby declare them to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this twenty fourth (day) |
