In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this twenty fourth day of May in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred & twenty three signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Matilda Ridgely (seal) Samuel Chase Matilda L Ridgely At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the above mentioned Deed the sum of one Dollar money of the United States the same being the full Consideration money within mentioned Witness Samuel Chase Matilda Ridgely Anne Arundel County to wit On the Twenty fourth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty three personally appeared M.rs Matilda Ridgely party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the county aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be her act and Deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the mulatto woman nan or nancy and her mulatto daughter nancy within named to be henceforth manumitted & discharged from all service to her or to any claiming under her and to be free & manumitted according to the act of assembly in such case made & provided Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before Gideon White Chd 3½ Recorded the 26th day of September 1823 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I George Stinchcomb of ann arundel county and State of Maryland for divers good Causes me thereunto moving as also the further Consideration on Two dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by (these) |
