24 after named & described being part of my slaves settled on Poplar Island & also all & singular the issue of the female slaves Lucretia & Mahala that is to say Mahala the Child of Hannah sold to John Sears to be free from and after the third day of December Eighteen hundred and fifty six the negro Girl Lucretia the Child Lilly sold to matthias B Bordley to be free from and after the third day of December Eighteen and fifty six Ambrose the child of Rachel sold to John Sears to be free from & after the third day of December Eighteen hundred & fifty six and all & singular the issue of the said female slaves Lucretia & mahala each & every of them at their respective ages of Thirty five years and I do by these presents declare the said negro slaves male and female herein before mentioned and all & singular the said issue of the said female slaves Lucretia & mahala to be free manumitted & discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators from & after the several & respective dates periods & ages herein before respectively assigned and prescribed for ever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fifth day of march in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred & seventeen Witness John Saunders Power Ch: Carroll of (seal) Matilda Chase Carrollton On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Maryland ann arundel County sc Be it remembered That on this seventh day of march Eighteen hundred and seventeen personally appears Charles Carroll of Carrollton (of) |
