administrators for ever; which said mulatto
woman above named was purchased by me of
Thomas H Bowie administrator of ann maria
Davidson.    In Testimony whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty
sixth day of november in the year of our Lord
Eighteen hundred and nineteen

    in the presence of us        Louis Gassaway  (seal)

       On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written
to wit:   Anne Arundel County ss  Be it remembered
That on this twenty sixth day of november Eighteen
hundred and nineteen personally appears Louis
Gassaway party to the aforegoing instrument of
writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the
peace of the State of maryland for the said County
and acknowledges the same to be his act and
deed                                 James Hunter

       To all whom it may concern  Be it known that I
Daniel Hart of the City of annapolis in the State
of maryland for divers good causes and considerations
me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration
of the sum of five dollars current money to me in hand
paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted
and set free and by these presents do hereby release from
slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro
Girl named Debora Bowie about the age of twelve
years from and after the twenty fourth day of
February in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight
hundred and thirty three she being able to work
and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance
