17 I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this twenty third day of November Anno Domini seventeen hundred and ninety seven Sealed & Delivered Nathan Williams (Seal) in the presence of Will.m Wilkins Jno Brice On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Ann Arundel County sct On the 23 November 1797 Came before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid Nathan Williams party to the within Deed of manumission & Acknowledged the same to be his Act and Deed for use & intent therein mentioned Jn.o Brice Recorded 14 Decem 1797
for and in Consideration of the faithful services and dutiful behaviour of my mulatta Slave named Charity Folks do hereby Liberate manumit and set free the said Charity from the date of these presents and for myself and my heirs do hereby forever quit Claim to all servitude from her and as a further reward to said Charity Folks I do hereby manumit Liberate & set free her female Child Named Hannah immediately and her son named James Jackson I do hereby manumit Liberate and set free from and after the first day of January which shall be in the year of our Lord |
