direct that all the rest and remainder of his slaves should be liberated manumitted
and set free as soon as they should respectively arrive to the age of
thirty years and also the issue and increase of such slaves on arriving to
the age of thirty years should be liberated and set free
        And I do further Certify That it hath been proved by such Testimony
as is satisfactory to me that the Bearer hereof negro Basil Todd
whose height is about five feet six & a quarter of an inch; whose age is about
thirty three years; whose complexion is dark; and who as appears by
the said Will and Testimony became free some time March in the
year of Eighteen hundred thirty on and twenty nine is the identical
person who was manumitted or freed as aforesaid and that the said negro
Bazil Todd was raised in Anne Arundel County and has a scar on the
right cheek and right arm
                            In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed
        (Seal)           my name and affixed the seal of my Office this Sixteenth
                            day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
                            hundred and thirty two

The State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to Wit
     I hereby Certify to all whom it doth or may concern that on an
Examination of the Records and Papers in the office of the Register of Wills
for Anne Arundel County it appears that the last Will and Testament of
Rezin Hammond late of the County aforesaid, deceased, bearing date the
tenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and
Eight was proved and recorded in the said office on the Eighteenth day of
September in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and
nineteen  in Liber I G N.o 2 folio 469 and that the said Rezin Hammond
by his said will among other things did devise and direct that all the
rest and remainder of his slaves Should be liberated manumitted and set
free as soon as they should respectively arrive to the age of thirty years
and also the issue and increase of such slaves on Arriving to the age of
thirty years should be liberated and set free.
     And I do further Certify That it hath been proved by such Testimony
as is satisfactory to me that the Bearer hereof negro Betsy Matthews
whose height is about five feet two & an half inch; whose age is about thirty
three years; whose complexion is mulatto somet and who as appears
by the said Will and Testimony became free sometime in March in the
year of Eighteen hundred and twenty nine is the identical person who
was manumitted or freed as aforesaid and that the said negro Betsy Matthews
