Testament of
Henrietta Hall late of the County aforesaid, deceased, bearing date the sixteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty eight was proved and recorded in the said office on the Sixth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty eight in Liber T. H. H. N.o 1 folio 358 and that the said Henrietta Hall Wells by her said will among other things did devise and direct that all her slaves as well those acquired under the Wills of her Brothers Edward and John as those which she originally held in her own right be and are hereby manumitted and set free at her decease from all further bondage or slavery And I do further Certify That it hath been proved by such Testimony as is satisfactory to me that the bearer hereof negro Lucey whose height is about five feet two inches; whose age is about twenty eight years; whose complexion is dark; and who as appears by the said Will and Testimony became free in the year of Eighteen hundred and twenty eight is the identical person who was manumitted or freed as aforesaid and that the said negro Lucey was raised in Anne Arundel County and has a scar over the left eye In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my (Seal) name and affixed the seal of my Office this seventeenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two Thomas T. Simmons Reg.r Wills A. A. County The State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to Wit: I hereby Certify to all whom it doth or may concern that on an Examination of the Records and Papers in the Office of the Register of Wills for Anne Arundel County it appears that the last Will and Testament of William Drury late of the County aforesaid, deceased, bearing date the Ninth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two was proved and recorded in the said office on the fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three in Liber T. H. H. N.o 1 folio 167 and that the said William Drury his said will among other things did devise and direct that his negro man Tom should be manumitted and set free immediately upon his death And I do further Certify That it hath been proved by such Testimony as is satisfactory to me that the Bearer hereof negro Tom Gantt, whose height is about five feet ten inches; whose age is about forty five years; whose complexion is dark; and who as appears by the said Will and Testimony became free sometime in the year of Eighteen hundred and twenty |
