money of the United State in hand paid by Rezin Hammond of Anne Arundel County and State of Maryland aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Rezin Hammond his Executors administrators and assigns the following negroes viz my negro boy Charles aged four years to serve until the first day of June 1877 at which time the said negro Boy Charles if living will be thirty five years old and free from slavery my negro Boy George aged one year to serve until the 8.th day of August 1879 at which time the said negro boy George if he is living will be thirty five years of age and free from slavery. To Have and To Hold the said described negro boys Charles and George to the said Rezin Hammond his Executors administrators and assigns. And I the said Mary Linthicum for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the said negro Boys Charles & George unto the said Rezin Hammond his Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Mary Linthicum my Executors and Administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this seventeenth day of November eighteen hundred and forty five Signed Sealed and delivered Mary Linthicum (seal) in the presence of Rezin Hammond (seal) Alex A. Kennard At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit City of Baltimore SS. Be it remembered That on this twentieth day of November 1845 before the Subscriber a justice of the Peace for said City appears Mary Linthicum and Rezin Hammond and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be their act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Alex A. Kennard State of Maryland Baltimore County Sct. I hereby certify that Alexander A. Kennard Gentleman before whom the within acknowledgments were made and who has thereto signed his name was at the time of so doing a Justice of the peace of the State aforesaid in and for the City of Baltimore duly commissioned & sworn |
