for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the said negro boy Joseph
for the time aforesaid unto the said William Shipley his executors administrators
and assigns against me the said James H. Lee my Executors and administrators
and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever
shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents   In witness
whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this twelvth day of August
eighteen hundred and fifty one

                   At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

City of Baltimore SS.
Be it remembered that on this twelvth day of August 1851 before the subscriber
a Justice of the Peace for said City appears James H. Lee & William Shipley and
acknowledges the above Instrument of writing to be their act and deed according
to the true intent and meaning thereof.  At the same time also appeared
William Shipley grantee named in the before going bill of sale and made
oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration therein set forth
is true and bona fide as set forth.   Acknowledged and sworn before

I hereby certify that Augustine H. Pennington Esquire before whom the annexed
acknowledgement was made and who has thereto subscribed his name was
at the time of so doing a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and
for the City of Baltimore duly commissioned and sworn
    (   Baltimore   )   In testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and affix the seal
