upon, and take possession of the said Steamboat or vessel
her Masts, Yards, Sails, Rigging, Cables, Boats, Tackle,
apparel and appurtenances aforesaid, and to grant, bargain,
sell and dispose of the same, and all other the premises
aforesaid at public auction or vendue, in the City of
Baltimore, or elsewhere, first giving four months notice
of the time and place of such sale, and as the Attorney of the said Lemuel
G. Taylor, or otherwise to make, sign, seal, execute, and deliver to the
purchaser or purchasers thereof, a good and sufficient Bill of Sale,
or other conveyance therefor, and out of the monies arising from
such sale to retain all such sum or sums of money and
interest, which shall then be due, from said L. G. Taylor to
J. McConky & Co and S. Phillips & Son according to the true intent
and meaning thereof, together with all the costs and expenses
attending such sale, rendering the overplus money (if any) to
the said Lemuel G. Taylor, his Executors, Administrators or
Assigns.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand, and
Seal this twenty third day of March, in the year of our Lord, one
thousand eight hundred and fifty

    State of Maryland City of Baltimore SS.   It is hereby certified,
that on this twenty third day of March, in the year, eighteen hundred
and fifty, before me the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of
Maryland, in and for the City of Baltimore aforesaid, personally
appeared Lemuel G. Taylor, the Grantor named in the foregoing
mortgage, or Instrument of Writing, and acknowledges the same to be
his act and deed and at the same time before me personally
appears J. McConky of the firm of J. McConky & Co of this City and
makes oath in due form of Law (on behalf of his said firm of
J. McConky & Co, and on behalf of S. Phillips & Son of Fredericksburg V.a
the grantors within named) that the consideration set forth in the
foregoing mortgage is true and bonafide as therein set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year
aforesaid                                       D. W. Hudson
