of so doing a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for
the City of Baltimore duly commissioned and sworn   In testimony
    (Seal's)   whereof I hereto set my hand and affixed the seal of
    (place)    Baltimore County Court this 2nd day of April  A D 1850

John Smith
Know all Men by these presents that I Charles
Griffith of Anne Arundel County in the State
of Maryland for and in consideration of the
Sum of six hundred dollars current money to
me in hand paid by John Smith of said County and State
at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt
whereof I the said Charles Griffith do hereby acknowledge have
granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant
bargain and sell unto the said John Smith his executor administrators
and assigns my negro Boys Joe aged Eighteen
years and my negro Boy Gabe aged twenty years to be
Slaves to the said John Smith for life or during the pleasure
of the said John Smith.   To Have and To Hold all and singular
Said negroes above bargained and sold or mentioned and
intended so to be to the said John Smith his executors administrators
and assigns forever, And I the said Charles Griffith
for myself my heirs Executors and administrators, all and singular
the said negroes unto the said John Smith his executors administrators
and assigns against me the said Charles Griffith my
executors & administrators and against all and every other person
or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend
by these presents of which negro boys I have put the said
John Smith in full possession by delivering to him the said
John Smith the two boys above named at and before the signing
and delivering of these presents   In Witness whereof I have hereunto
affixed my hand and seal this thirtieth day of March Anno
Domini 1850

subscribers Justices of the peace of the State of Maryland
in and for said County Charles Griffith the Mortgagee or
(grantee) in the above Bill of Sale and made oath that the
