Stewart (seal) State of Maryland City of Baltimore sct Be it remembered that on this seventh day of May 1849 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for said County City personally appeared Bernard M. Campbell and Charles C. Stewart parties to the foregoing Bill of Sale and severally acknowledged the same as their respective act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof at the same time appeared Charles C Stewart grantee named in the foregoing Indenture and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration money therein mentioned is bonafide true as therein stated Acknowledged & sworn to before A. H. Pennington State of Maryland Baltimore County sct I hereby certify that Augustine H Pennington Esquire before whom the annexed acknowledgment & affidavit were made and who has thereto subscribed his name was at the time of so doing a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for the City of Baltimore duly commissioned and sworn (Seal's) In Testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and affix the seal of Baltimore (Place) County Court this 7th day of May A. before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain & sell unto the said Isaac C. Anderson his executors administrators and assigns one negro boy named "Lewis" now about ten years of age to serve untill the first day of May eighteen hundred and seventy four within the state of Maryland but no longer the said negro boy was sold by the said F. G. Waters as Executor of the last will & testament of Chas Waters aforesaid by virtue of the power and authority contained therein on or about the 19th day of November 1846 in Anne Arundel County at Watersford the Country residence of said Charles Waters dec.d to the said Isaac C. Anderson and the said F. G. Waters as Executor aforesaid soon after said sale executed in due form of law and delivered to said Isaac C Anderson a Bill of sale for said boy which Bill of Sale as the said Anderson affirms has never been put |
