60 representative or representatives of her the said Elizabeth and upon the further trust that the said John Beckett his Executors administrators and assigns and every of them shall and will hold and employ the said negroes or permit the said Elizabeth to hold or employ the same and every of them with their increase in such way and manner as she may require and also that the said John Beckett &.c shall or may hereafter sell and dispose of such negroes and every of them with their increase to such person or persons and for such price or prices as the said Elizabeth in her life time by any writing sealed by her and acknowledged before some Justice of the peace shall direct and the proceeds thereof to invest in some safe and productive funds or estate to be held upon the like trusts as are herein before noted and it is further understood that the said John Beckett his Executors administrators and assigns and every of them in Execution of the aforesaid trusts shall be liable for wilful acts and defaults and not otherwise In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirty first day of October in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty nine Signed Sealed and delivered In the presence of Tho.s Burgess T J Lawrence (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne arundel County to wit On this thirty first day of October in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty nine the above named Thomas J Lawrence appeared before me a Justice of the peace in and for said County and acknowledged the foregoing Instrument of writing to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned chd Acknowledged before Tho.s Burgess $.78 6½ Recorded the 31.st day of October 1839 Know all men by these present that I Caleb White of Anne Arundel and state of maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars Current money to me in hand paid by James Iglehart of the County and state aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said James Iglehart his executors administrators and assigns all my present Crop of Tobacco now in the House all my present Crop of Corn and grain all of which property is now in my possession To have and To hold the said described property above bargained and sold to the said James Iglehart (his) |
