342 ever to his and their only proper use and benefit and I the said Thomas B Crandle for myself my Executors and administrators shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents to the said Phillip D Sutton his Executors and administrators and assigns the said described property of Tobacco or Corn against me my Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty four Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence Thomas B Crandall (seal) of Lewis Sutton Sr William Davis On the back of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne Arundle County to wit: On this 1st day of July 1844 Before me one of the Justices of the peace in and for the State and County aforesaid appears Thomas B Crandle of said County and acknowledged the within or foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed and the Tobacco and Corn or sum of money named therein to be the right and Estate of the said Phillip D Sutton upon the condition therein contained according to the true intent and meaning of the same and the Acts of Assembly in such a case as made and provided Acknowledged before Lewis Sutton Sr chd 63 4½ Recorded the 15 day of July 1844 This Indenture made this nineteenth day of July in the year Eighteen hundred and forty four Between John Johnson and Thomas S Alexander of the City of Annapolis of the one part and Alexander Randall of the said City of the other part Whereas Richard J Jones of the said City [illegible] a Negro woman named Charlotte then about twenty years of age and her female child named Lucinda alias Louisa then about three years of age on the twenty ninth day of July Eighteen hundred and thirty four of one Jonathan Sleeper to serve they and their issue until they severally arrive at the age of thirty five years and no longer as by deed recorded in Baltimore County Court will appear And whereas the said Charlotte since the said purchase hath two other children one being to wit Eliza a Girl now about seven years of age and Waitman a boy now about five years of age who were also the property of the said Richard J Jones and whereas after which the said Richard J Jones Executed a deed of trust conveying among other property all his right title and interest in and to the said negroes to the said Johnson and and Alexander and authorising them among other things to sell and dispose of the said property for the use of said trusts and upon the terms and Conditions therein stated And whereas the said Johnson and Alexander have in pursuance (of) |
